Cristina Pérez Díaz


Cristina Pérez Díaz is an exophonic Puerto Rican writer and translator working in Spanish, English, Ancient Greek, and Latin. She published the poetry volume From the Founding of the Country (Winter Editions) and the multi-awarded hybrid of translation + academic book, Antígona by José Watanabe: A Bilingual Edition with Critical Essays(Routledge). Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Posit JournalWords Without BordersAsymptoteHayden’s Ferry ReviewEterna Cadencia, and Periódico de Poesía, and was featured in the podcast The Slowdown (hosted by Major Jackson). She has a Ph.D. in Classics from Columbia University and currently teaches Creative Writing and Humanities courses in Puerto Rico, and is currently working on a book that combines translations and essays on the archaic Greek poets.
