MC Hyland

MC Hyland (she/they) is a poet, publisher, scholar, teacher, and public artist. She is the author of  three full-length books of poetry (most recently Walks & Weathers, 2025) and a collection of short essays (The Dead and the Living and the Bridge, also 2025). Their hybrid book of poetry and lyric criticism, A Book of Borrowed Light, is forthcoming from Thirdhand Books in 2027.

MC holds MFAs in creative writing and Book Arts from the University of Alabama and a PhD in English Literature from NYU, where her dissertation investigated affects of privatization in the British Romantic period and in the post-Soviet era. In addition to these institutions, MC has taught semester-length courses at Lebanon Valley College and Franklin & Marshall College. They also have two decades of experience teaching writing and art courses to both children and adults at variety of community organizations. They are the founding editor of DoubleCross Press, a poetry chapbook press.

MC lives in St. Paul, MN, where she works as a cheesemonger and a freelance editor / content strategist.
